Why does the surface of 201 stainless steel strip rust?
2025-09-01 23:29:03

201 precision Stainless steel strip is widely used in our daily life and industrial fields. Due to environmental changes, improper human operation, and other factors, over time, most steel strip products will experience rust stains on their surfaces. So, how did these rust stains come about? Let's take 301 stainless steel strip as an example to explain.

There are generally two reasons for rusting of 301 stainless steel strip: chemical corrosion and electrolytic corrosion.

What is chemical corrosion? Generally speaking, during the use of 301 stainless steel strip products, a layer of oil, dust, acid, alkali, salt, etc. will adhere to the surface. These stains will chemically react with the stainless steel strip under certain conditions, damaging its surface passivation film and reducing its protective ability, resulting in chemical corrosion.

Another type is electrolytic corrosion, which generally contains several different metal components inside stainless steel strips. These metal components undergo electrical corrosion in the primary battery due to the influence of their own or external corrosive media during use.

As a type of spring specific stainless steel strip, 301 stainless steel strip has a wide range of applications. To reduce the rusting speed of the product during use, it is necessary to choose a suitable high-quality stainless steel strip.
