Quality control is crucial in the production process of cold-rolled stainless steel strip. To achieve a good level of quality control, it is necessary to control from the following aspects.
Firstly, the raw material process. The quality of hot-rolled stainless steel coils will greatly affect the final quality of cold-rolled coils, mainly manifested in aspects such as plate shape, plate convexity, surface quality, surface roughness, chemical composition, tension, etc.
The next step is the cold rolling process, during which the rolling speed, pass number, reduction rate, rolling oil, roll material, and surface accuracy all affect the surface quality of Stainless steel strip.
The higher the rolling speed, the higher the surface roughness after rolling. And due to its fast speed, sometimes oil stains may appear on the surface of the material after annealing. The more rolling passes, the lower the surface roughness of the stainless steel strip, and the smoother the surface. The higher the reduction rate, the lower the surface roughness of the cold-rolled stainless steel strip.
In addition, continuous annealing and acid washing are also important steps in the entire stainless steel strip manufacturing process. The annealing process requires strict requirements, including annealing temperature, oxygen concentration, and annealing speed.
Acid washing is also one of the key links that affect the production quality of stainless steel strips. Usually, this province can use two methods: neutral salt electrolysis and mixed acid washing.
Flatness can also greatly affect the quality of stainless steel strips. The flat elongation of 304 Stainless steel strip is usually controlled at 0.3% -0.9%. Excessive elongation will deteriorate the performance and affect the processing performance of the material. Therefore, in general, when the plate type meets the requirements, the elongation should be reduced as much as possible.
The cutting process usually has a relatively small impact on the quality of stainless steel strip products, but due to its high line speed, it is necessary to pay attention to the surface quality at all times to prevent batch defects. Regular maintenance during production is essential, especially on the surface of the work roll, which should be maintained in good condition.
In general, stainless steel strip products will produce various defects in each process from raw materials, cold rolling, annealing, and segmentation. Rolling and annealing are the two main processes that generate defects, so quality management of rolling and annealing processes is the most critical.
